iMessage Encryption Issue

From Darren Pauli for The Register: iOS zero-day can decrypt iMessages, access iThing photos – Apple promises patch, boffins won’t reveal details, FBI presumably salivating.

He’s commenting on an article from the Washington Post: Johns Hopkins researchers poke a hole in Apple’s encryption. Professor Matthew Green’s team will publish a paper on the issue as soon as Apple have fixed the vulnerability. Green comments, raising the spectre of San Bernardino, that:

“So it scares me that we’re having this conversation about adding back doors to encryption when we can’t even get basic encryption right.”
