CNN posted an interesting item last week picking up on the theme of Apple’s semi-permanent state of denial when it comes to security matters. It isn’t surprising that security vendors find this complacency irritating. (And no, that isn’t just because we’re concerned about sales: as cash cows go, this example of the breed is not going to put a lot of beef onto any AV company’s table in the near future.) Still, it is interesting when the media take up the same chorus, though CNN are referring mostly to the recent iPad/AT&T incident, which I’m still inclined to think is a little overblown.
You might want to check out the Goatse blog for their side of the story (indeed, of several stories). Publicity-seeking notwithstanding, their work is not without interest, and the addition of Christopher Abad to their team has given them extra street-cred.
Thanks to Aryeh for pointing me to the CNN story.
